The Department of Biomedical Technologies at the Lebanese German University (LGU) organized its first Robotics Competition entitled “Empowering the Future” on April 6th, 2019. Six groups, from five different schools, participated in this competition.
On three consecutive Saturdays on March 16th, 23rd, and 30th, 24 students attended a workshop to learn how to program Arduino and gain some hands-on knowledge of the electro-mechanical constitution of the robot.
On competition day, all teams competed against each other. Each game was divided into two segments: in the first segment, the robots had to follow a certain path in order to score balls in the rival’s goal in an autonomous manner. In the second segment, a “football match” between the two teams took place.
After the games, each team made a presentation of his work in front of a jury explaining the algorithm used. The jury was composed of the chair of the IEEE robotics chapter as well as engineers working in well-known biomedical and industrial companies in Lebanon.
The “Pi” team from College des Apôtres was the winner of the competition whereas “Pied Piper” from Notre Dame de Louizeh came second.

Unforgettable 3 weeks workshops at LGU for an exciting robotics competition among 24 students from different schools as they compete for the best software coding and mechanical design. Congratulations to all the winners and the participants who all got a first-hand experience in the world of robotics.
