The Department of Physical Therapy at the Lebanese German University – Tyr held a presentation on “Dementia Management” in Dar Al Aman Geriatric Hospital in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Ali Fakhro and two students from the Department of Physical Therapy (Hadi Fakhreddine and Zahraa Madi).
The presentation was attended by the hospital G.M., Mr. Nabih Nourreddine, as well as other healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, physical therapists, psychologists…).
This presentation was divided into three parts:
Student Hadi Fakhreddine handled the first part, providing a definition of the syndrome and its prevalence as well its impact on the general population.
The second part dealt with quality management applied to patients with dementia as explained by Dr. Fakhro who discussed the opportunity of implementing the quality management set on the Lebanese elderly population for what it brings as beneficial outcomes.
The third part presented by Zahraa Madi discussed the possible therapeutic approaches and highlighted what physical therapists could do in this regard.
Dr. Fakhro finalized with a word of gratefulness addressed to Ms. Rania Fakih, Head of Physical Therapy Department, and Mr. Nabih Nourreddine for providing us with the opportunity to present this capacity building session, and shed the light on the two Master programs offered at LGU in Quality Management and Public Health.
