Under the patronage and supervision of the Ministry of Tourism, LGU organized Miss and Mr. LGU on Thursday 31 May at its main campus in Sahel Alma.

The event was attended by over 700 people including artists, actors, journalists, and movie directors in addition to the candidates’ parents and friends as well as LGU academic and administrative staff.

Eighteen participants competed for the title in front of a jury composed of:

• Mrs. Petra Obeid, chief jury committee, representing the Ministry of Tourism
• Dr. Tony Nassar, chief plastic surgeon in the Middle East for 2017 and owner of a plastic surgery hospital and various clinics in Lebanon and abroad
• Mrs. Regina Fenianos, President of “Le Bal des Débutantes” and the Lebanese Brazilian Friendship Association, Green Garden Group, and member of LGU Board of Trustees
• Actress and ex-Miss Lebanon and Miss International for 2001 -2002, Christina Sawaya
• International fashion designer Rima Sakr whose dresses are famous in Milan and Paris
• International fashion designer Selim Mitri
• Mr. Christian Adaimi, Director of Notre du Liban University Hospital and President of the Lebanese German Association for the Promotion of Culture
• Miss Zahle, Lara Younes

Dr. Christiane Patal presented the event which started with Bianco Parade followed by the candidates’ first walk in sports clothes then a dance was performed by Greg Tafranian. The second walk followed with the contestants in evening wear before George Zgheib cheered the audience with two of his songs. The jury then selected the finalists who had to answer a number of questions.

The results came as follows:

1st runner-up, Celeste Chkeir, Faculty of Public Health, Nutrition Department
2nd runner-up, Léa Hayek, Faculty of Public Health, Nutrition Department

Mr. LGU, René Mouawad, Faculty of Education and Arts, Performing Arts Department
1st runner-up, Pedro Iskandar, Faculty of Public Health, Physical Therapy Department
2nd runner-up, Charbel Fenianos, Faculty of Public Health, Medical Imaging Department

Mrs. Obeid then handed in the crown to the winners who were also rewarded with USD6000 and valuable gifts. At the end, LGU reminded the audience that part of its goals and values is encouraging its students to develop their talents through their participation in entertaining and cultural activities alongside academic ones.
