Under the patronage and the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism, the Lebanese German University – LGU organized its second beauty contest to elect Miss and Mr. LGU 2015 at its campus in Sahel Alma on May 14, 2015. The event hosted actors, artists, directors, journalists, and company owners as well as the candidates’ parents, LGU staff, instructors, and students.

Twenty candidates competed for the title in front of a jury composed of Mrs. Petra Obeid, representing the Minister of Tourism, and head of the jury; Doctor George Moufarrej, owner of Wellness and Health Clinic at Notre Dame du Liban hospital; Doctor Rani Moussa, owner of Best Smile Clinic; Mr. Nidal Bchrawi, owner of Nidal Agency and organizer of Miss Lebanon; international sculptor, Naef Alwan; the famous singer Foulla Al-Jazaeiriya; the famous tenor Gabriel Abdel Nour; Maya Nehme from Star Academy’s Dancing with the Stars; and actor and director Elie Chalouhi.

Actor Nicolas Mouawad presented the event that was launched with the candidates’ first appearance in trendy casual wear. After singer Maya Nehme sang two of her latest songs, the candidates made a second appearance in evening wear. Tenor Gabriel Abdel Nour charmed the audience with his wonderful voice before the jury selected ten candidates who had to impress the selected jury members with their answers. In the meantime, singer Foulla Al-Jazaeiriya delivered two songs before the final results were announced as follows:

Miss LGU, Marlene Chami from the Faculty of Public Health, Nutrition Department; First runner-up, Carol Kmeid from the Faculty of Arts and Education, Performing Arts Department; Second runner-up, Elaa Sabha from the Faculty of Public Health, Medical Laboratory Department; Mr. LGU, Elie Tanach from the Faculty of Business and Tourism, management Department; First runner-up, Imad Naisi from the Faculty of Public Health, Physical Therapy Department; Second runner-up, Joseph Chlela from the Faculty of Arts and Education, Performing Arts Department.

Mrs. Petra Obeid handed in the awards to the winners who were also awarded prizes that exceeded USD 5000 for each of them. The administration of LGU, in line with its objectives and principles, stressed the importance of encouraging its students to develop their skills and talents through their participation in various entertaining events in addition to the academic activities.
