The Lebanese German University – LGU honored graduate Yvan Harfouche from the Department of Performing Arts for winning March 2012 Freedom of Expression Award for directing his short movie “Nafs El Helm”. The ceremony was held on March 20th, 2013 in the presence of guest of honor, actress Takla Chamoun.Also honored were first commencement graduates in June 2012: Micheline Keyrouz, Nohra Assaker, Shayma Ayadi, Christina Zakkour, and Juliana Kassis whose movies were nominated for the Short Movies Festival that was held the same year. Following a welcoming word pronounced by LGU president, Dr. Faouzi Adaimi, the movies were run before an audience made up of LGU deans, heads, administrators as well as representatives of movie producers and a host of students. Actress Takla Chamoun congratulated the students on their remarkable talents wishing them constant perseverance despite the hardships that will confront them in their career. She stressed the importance of creativity in every young talent aspiring to become a household name in the world of movies and cinema. She also thanked LGU for fostering a sense of responsibility in its students.

Dr. Faouzi Adaimi praised the young movie makers for their imagination and originality and encouraged them to keep up their efforts so that they could fulfill their dreams. He then offered each of them a blazon as a token of his admiration of their young talents before presenting actress Takla Chamoun with a blazon for her life time contributions to the world of art and cinema. The ceremony ended with a toast for the occasion under the warm applause of the audience.
