LGU proudly organized LIBNOR Day, in collaboration with the Lebanese Standards Institution (LIBNOR), under the theme “Shaping a Culture of Quality Built on Standards.”
Held on Monday, February 23, 2026, the event brought together experts and students from various faculties for an in-depth exploration of standardization and its critical role across multiple sectors.
The event opened with a general address by Mrs. Rola Darwish (Head of Chemical Standards Division - LIBNOR), who introduced students to LIBNOR’s mandate, the national standardization process, and the strategic importance of standards in enhancing quality, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.
The day continued with specialized sessions tailored to each academic discipline. For the Departments of Business and Insurance, Mrs. Darwish delivered a session on Standards, Trade, Conformity Assessment, and Management Systems, highlighting the impact of standardization on international trade, certification frameworks, and organizational governance.
Students of Physical Therapy and Nursing attended a session led by Eng. Charbel Abi Nakhle (Chemical Engineer - LIBNOR), who addressed Product Safety and Health Care Standards, emphasizing regulatory requirements, patient safety considerations, and quality assurance mechanisms within healthcare systems.
In the field of Nutrition, Eng. Sahar Haj Sleiman (Biochemist - LIBNOR) presented on Food Safety and Food Standards from Farm to Fork, discussing food control systems, risk management principles, and the role of standards in safeguarding public health throughout the supply chain.
Meanwhile, students in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biomedical Technologies, and Medical Imaging participated in a session delivered by Eng. Yousef Jabour (Mechanical Engineer - LIBNOR) on Medical Devices, Diagnostic Quality, and Laboratory Accreditation, focusing on compliance standards, performance validation, and accreditation processes that ensure reliability and safety in diagnostic and clinical environments.
Through this initiative, LGU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a culture of quality, strengthening professional competencies, and bridging academic learning with national and international standardization frameworks.
