The Bachelor of Arts in Preschool and Primary Education at LGU prepares students for a successful career in teaching, with a focus on both Preschool and Primary levels ranging from nursery and kindergarten (maternelle in the French system) to primary or elementary school (up to grade 5 – American system or CM2 – French system).
Our program blends theoretical knowledge with practical experience, equipping future educators with the skills and expertise needed to shape young minds. The curriculum is based on innovative teaching methods and best practices and covers diverse aspects of education, fostering interdisciplinary knowledge across various subjects, ensuring they are well-prepared to teach across disciplines, design complex teaching-learning assessments while addressing the intellectual, professional, and personal growth of pupils.
A core component of the program is three internships at renowned educational institutions, performed each at a different level (kindergarten, elementary – cycles 2 and 3) with specific learning objectives. These internships provide students with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of teaching practices across various age groups in real-world settings.
The program emphasizes the integration of technology in the classroom, preparing graduates to meet the needs of today’s pupils by incorporating modern tools and methods in their teaching. Throughout their studies, students engage in coursework, field-based experiences, simulations and community service, which help them develop critical thinking, classroom management, and reflective practice skills. The program also promotes values such as lifelong learning, integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.
In addition, students are required to complete an end-of-program research project, which serves as a culmination of their academic journey. This project enables students to apply both theoretical knowledge and practical insights gained throughout the program to a specific educational issue. By conducting research, they enhance their analytical and problem-solving abilities while contributing to the broader field of education. This experience not only deepens their expertise but also prepares them for future academic pursuits or leadership roles in education. The project is an essential step in fostering independent thinking, innovation, and a commitment to evidence-based teaching practices.
