In line with its non-academic activities undertaken throughout the year, the Lebanese German University organized its 2014 Christmas event on Thursday 18 December by visiting an old people’s home, “Sendiyanat Beit Alajouz”, in Shaily. Administrative staff and LGU students offered food provisions to the home and prepared different activities to enjoy with the elderly who spent over two hours singing and enjoying the Christmas spirit. LGU staff and students were congratulated by the people in charge of the home on the success of the event and praised for making Christmas an occasion to instill a spirit of compassion among the students towards the older generation. Students in the Nutrition Department celebrated St Barbara on Thursday 4th December, 2014 by inviting their peers and faculty members to taste their various homemade and light desserts (ktayef and wheat). They also provided information on each dessert calorie content in a PowerPoint projection and by passing out leaflets rich in important tips. (photos attached)

To promote volunteering in Lebanon, LGU participated in a project launched by UNESCO to raise awareness of the importance of taking part in community services among the young people.
LGU students organized an activity entitled “Find the volunteer inside you” and hosted the Red Cross, “Scouts du Liban” and live love Lebanon. Each organization provided information on the nature of their work and its impact on community life and displayed some hands-on techniques relevant to the tasks they carry out. (photos attached)

La Lebanese German University – LGU, en présence de hauts officiers de l’armée libanaise, a célébré la fête de l’indépendance le mardi 18 novembre, 2014 à son campus à Sahel Alma. Les doyens, chefs des départements et les étudiants de toutes les facultés ont assisté à la cérémonie. Suite à l’hymne national, Dr. Pierre Khoury, Vice-Président au Développement, a prononcé un discours au nom du président de la LGU, évoquant les sacrifices de l’armée libanaise et tous les efforts qu’elle déploie en vue de préserver le Liban, maintenir sa souveraineté et détourner les complots qui visent à affaiblir l’unité nationale. Il a de même appuyé la nécessité de maintenir la solidarité entre tous les libanais en dépit de leurs affiliations politiques ou religieuses. (read more)

The event was held on Tuesday 11 November 2014 at LGU main campus in Sahel Alma. The Department of Performing Arts at LGU is proud to announce that three short films made by Sami Naoum, Nour Akiki, and Chritelle Nicolas as well as one made jointly by Charles Moukarzel, Aline Mouawad, and Mary Nachef have been selected for the 8th NDU International Students Film Festival (Nov. 9-16). Our students will be competing with local and international universities. We wish them good luck!

The department of Physical Therapy at the Faculty of Public Health participated in Banque du Liban Beirut Marathon that was held on November 9, 2014 in Beirut.
The students provided medical assistance to relieve exertion suffered by the runners. They helped them stretch their strained muscles and took care of their sprained ankles and cramped condition. We thank our students for being socially active. (photos attached)

The Lebanese German University organized an Inaugural Lecture delivered by Mr. Alexis Loeber, Head of EU Cooperation and Delegation Section, on Thursday 6th November, 2014.
Mr. Loeber discussed Lebanon’s partnership with the European Union through which the EU provides support to civil society and human rights, the independence of the judiciary, electoral reform, the security sector, penitentiary reform, border management and administrative reform. The EU also aims to protect and empower women, youths and children, victims of torture, migrant workers and refugees in every region of Lebanon.(read more)

The Lebanese German University was on a meeting date with its German lifestyle on Friday 17th October, 2014 as it celebrated its 5th traditional Oktoberfest at its campus in Sahel Alma.
Students dressed in traditional Bavarian dirndls and guests of various ages and nationalities as well as beer lovers were present to enjoy the event. Various activities took place in a festive atmosphere. Jack Haddad and the Lucky Strikes rocked the night with various types of music and songs.
Pleased with the atmosphere, the typical German and Lebanese dishes, and the thrilling music, the guests spent an unforgettable night eating, drinking, and dancing before challenging one another to the Frankfurter game and other competitions to win valuable prizes.
It was a joyful event for all and a chance to get a taste of Germany in a Lebanese atmosphere. (photos attached)

The Lebanese German University – LGU held its third commencement ceremony, class of 2014, under the patronage and presence of his Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi at Eddé Sands in Jbeil on July 17, 2014. Gathered for the occasion were 100 students graduating from the faculties of Business Administration, Public Health, and Arts and Education.
The ceremony was held in sumptuous surroundings in the presence of Mr. Christian Clages, the Ambassador of Germany in Lebanon, as well as a host of political, military, religious, economic and industrial figures in addition to the deans of the various faculties, heads of departments, the administrative staff, and the students’ parents. نظّمت الجامعة اللبنانية الألمانية – LGU بالتعاون مع اتحاد المستشفيات العربية مؤتمرا” بعنوان ” التغطية الصحية للجميع ” في حرمها في ساحل علما في 10حزيران وأدار المؤتمر الاعلامي وليد عبود بحضور وزير العمل الأستاذ سجعان قزي و ممثلا” عن وزير الصحة وائل بو فاعور٬ الدكتور بهيج عربيد٬ ورئيس اللّجنة البرلمانية للصّحة النائب عاطف مجدلاني٬ و رئيس اتحاد المستشفيات العربية الدكتور توفيق خوجه. وحضر المؤتمر عدد كبير من المعنيين بالشأن الصّحي كأطباء و قدراء مستشفيات و طلاب كليّات الصّحة العامة في جامعات عدّة
وبعد كلمة ترحيب ألقاها رئيس الجامعة الدكتور فوزي عضيمي٬ شدّد السيّد خوجه على أهميّة المحافظة على الصحة الجسديّة و المعنويّة والاجتماعيّة لكل أفراد المجتمع. فتكون بذلك التغطية الصحيّة شريك فاعل لجميع القطاعات التي تسعى للعمل على انجاز خطّة فعّالة تؤمّن التّغطية الصحيّة للجميع
و شدّد النائب عاطف مجدلاني على أهميّة العمل على انشاء تغطية صحيّة للجميع من شأنها ازالة الفروقات الاجتماعيّة. وأوضح أن البطاقة الصحيّة تزيل العائق المالي أمام المريض وتسمح له بالاستفادة من الخدمات الصحيّة بنسبة 100% في المستشفيات العامّة و 90% في المستشفيات الخاصّة. وأشار الى أن نسبة المواطنين المحرومين من التغطية الصحيّة في لبنان تناهز ال47%٬ ويمكن تمويل هذا المشروع من الموازنة العامّة للدولة و مساهمة المشتركين. وبذلك يستطيع المتقاعدون الاستفادة من هذة التغطية لقاء بدل شهري قيمته 60000 ل.ل. كما شدّد على أن يخضع المشروع لمراقبة ديوان المحاسبة من أجل العمل بشفافية تامّة
في دوره٬ ذكّر الدكتور بهيج عرييه بالفوضى التي تطفى على قطاع الصّحة في لبنان بسبب غياب التنسيق بين الدولة والمستشفيات من ناحية٬ وانعدام المراقبة المالية من ناحية أخرى. وشدّد على أهميّة البطاقة الصحيّة وضرورة وصل مراكز الصّحة في مختلف المناطق اللّبنانية بالمستشفيات لكي يتسنّى لها منح المريض خدمات صحيّة عالية الجودة
أمّا الوزير سجعان قزي فقد أشار الى أن المساواة الاجتماعيّة تقوم على أسس المساواة الانسانية التي تعطي كل انسان الحق في التغطية الصحيّة. أمّا المساواة الوطنية فتفرض على كل دولة تأمين تلك التغطية لكل أبناء المجتمع
وذكّر بالجهود التي يقوم بها العاملون في وزارتيّ الصحّة العامة والعمل لكي يؤمنّوا خدمات جيّدة لكل المواطنين
اختتم الحفل بتقديم درع تقدير لكل من الخطباء وشرب نخب المناسبة

The Recreational Department at LGU organized the “Strongest Team” competition on Wednesday 4 June in its green area. Four teams made up each of 5 girls and 5 boys competed against in fun sports games and activities for two hours.
The PHYSIO I team won the competition and was delivered a cup and medals for the effort of all its members.

In line with its promotion of young talents and in order to encourage its students to reveal their artistic skills, LGU organized LGU’s Got Talent on May 30 at 8:00 p.m.
The lively event was held at LGU campus in Sahel Alma and featured various talents for the occasion. It attracted not only participants to the contest but also a large number of students who were present to cheer their peers as well as various guests and a jury composed of Mrs. Alice Edde, Mrs. Graziella Seif, Mr. Michel Hourani Mr. Elie Massad, Mr. Georges Farah, and Mr. Chadi Azoury.
Fifteen groups of students of various faculties and majors competed in different fields, such as dancing, singing, acting, painting, music playing, and poetry reading. Patrick Eid and Mary Nachaf were awarded first prize for their outstanding singing performance; Vincent Matta second prize for his remarkable dancing steps; while Roula Moubarak ranked third for her unusual voice.
During the event, many entertaining activities were held. Mr. Elie Massad delivered a standup comedy piece; Mr. Chadi Azoury accompanied by Mr. Pierre Sarkis played music live at intermission; Mr. Georges Farah sang his own medley; and famous soprano singer Graziella Seif ended the event with her angelic voice. LGU organized a seminar entitled « Walking Through and Towards Quality in Physiotherapy » on Saturday 24 May, 2014. The seminar hosted several professionals in the field who met to discuss how to regulate and standardize the profession.
At the start of the seminar, Dr. Paul Makhlouf, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, called attention to the growing number of physical therapists in Lebanon due to public awareness of the need for such therapy to deal with old age ailments and various cases requiring specific physical therapy handling. As a result, there is an urgent need for criteria to standardize and regulate the profession.
Mr. Charbel Habib, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy at LGU, spoke about the evolution of education in the field of physical therapy that used to be confined to graduating technicians before it became part of a higher education program recommended by the WCPT, that is a university diploma including a master degree and a professional PhD.
Following that, Mr. Hassan Karaki, Director of the Research Center for Quality in Physical Therapy, spoke about how quality evolved from its being imposed by suppliers of goods and services to its being defined by the consumers of these goods and the users of these services. He also brought up the socio-professional situation of therapists in Lebanon before stressing that the main objective of the Research Center is to find out what therapists’ needs are in terms of training and self-development and to define a profile for the therapist and the needed qualifications he should possess, what pathologies are being treated and medical prescriptions are proposed along with problems relating to social security, retirement, and the overall situation of the profession in rural areas in Lebanon.
In turn, Mr. Joseph Yammine, expert in quality and standardization systems, focused on the preventive and corrective dispositions that should meet the needs of clients. He also described the content of the documentation pyramid that includes the quality manual, the specific procedures for every activity, and the working documents that keep track of what steps have been taken during the therapeutic process. He also defined some terms relating to quality, such as norms, certifications, audits, processes, control, conformity and non-conformity, and corrective and preventive actions.
Following that, Mrs. Rachelle Rassi Daou, physical therapist and expert in health management, stressed the need to meet the patient’s satisfaction, to boost the image of the profession as well as the need to train professionals on the latest innovations in the field so that they are constantly aware of optimal hygiene practices, the risks involved, and how to apply therapies that are effective and cost efficient.
Mrs. Claude Maroun, Director of the Physical Therapy Center at AUBMC, delivered a SWOT analysis of the profession identifying its strengths as being university qualifications and the code of ethics and its weaknesses as lack of regulations imposed by the government and data provided for the purpose as well as lack of funds to finance research in the field ; while the opportunities lie in the willingness of universities to launch research programs ; and the threats in the tendency the profession has to follow an esthetic rather than a therapeutic trend.
Mrs. Maroun also made various recommendations aimed at boosting the profession through carrying out continuous training for the therapists and working towards effective standardization of the profession. She also spoke about how to set objectives for the case in hand and move towards fulfilling these objectives in the best interest of the patient and how to measure the efficiency of the whole process.
Mrs. Lea Tabet, physical therapist and coordinator of the Physical Therapy Department at LGU, spoke about the standards required for accreditation. She also identified the patient’s rights and needs and the delivery of quality therapy by qualified professionals who are respectful not only of the patient’s needs but also of the security of the environment. She also confirmed that in order to deliver quality therapy to patients, the whole process must be measured against reliable performance indicators.
At the end of the seminar, discussions followed on how to implement the criteria regarding the standardization of the profession in a most efficient manner. (photos attached)

Through a slide show, they provided information about eggs and their nutritional value. They also passed out leaflets explaining the calorific content of various regular and light Easter delights. Les étudiants du département de physiothérapie à la Lebanese German University –LGU a organisé une conférence intitulée « Troubles musculo-squelettiques professionnels: Ergonomie et prévention chez les bureaucrates » et le vendredi 4 avril 2014 à l’Auditorium ULE, Sahel Alma.
Une position assise prolongée devant un écran d’ordinateur est responsable de troubles musculo-squelettiques ou TMS qui sont des pathologies dues à des blessures des tissus mous notamment des tendons, ligaments, vaisseaux sanguins et nerfs causés par un travail répétitif.
Les conséquences de ces troubles sont des douleurs aigues et un inconfort durant le travail ce qui va mener à un absentéisme répétitif, une perte de productivité, une perte de temps et d’argent pour des visites médicales et des traitements médicamenteux ainsi qu’une perte de la qualité de vie de la personne.
« Mieux vaut prévenir que guérir » : dans ce but les étudiants Alaa SALEH, Patricia STEPHAN, Carine HENNAOUI, Samia FAKHRY, Lea NASSAR, Antoinette SAFI, Nando HARB, Elie KARABACHE, Lucien NAKHOUL, ont pris à cœur l’initiative de développer une formation inspirée du cours d’ergonomie afin d’aider les bureaucrates à déterminer si leur poste d’ordinateur est adapté à leurs besoins en leur fournissant à l’aide d’une présentation qu’ils ont développé eux même sous la direction de l’enseignante du cours, les outils de base pour aménager et entretenir un espace de travail de manière à favoriser la santé et la bonne posture. A la fin de la conférence, un guide vidéo va cependant être distribué à tous les spectateurs. (photos attached)

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Public Health at LGU took part in an interuniversity competition entitled “Innovation in Food Control – IFC2014″ organized by the Ministry of Economy and Trade during February 2014. LGU competed with 20 Lebanese universities and won first prize on its project.
The purpose of the competition was to get the academic sector involved in the development of projects carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Trade in order to devise new tools that would enhance consumer protection and boost consumers’ confidence in the government. (read more)

Fri17Oct2014The Lebanese German University was on a meeting date with its German lifestyle on Friday 17th October, 2014 as it celebrated its 5th traditional Oktoberfest at its campus in Sahel Alma.
Students dressed in traditional Bavarian dirndls and guests of various ages and nationalities as well as beer lovers were present to enjoy the event. Various activities took place in a festive atmosphere. Jack Haddad and the Lucky Strikes rocked the night with various types of music and songs.
Pleased with the atmosphere, the typical German and Lebanese dishes, and the thrilling music, the guests spent an unforgettable night eating, drinking, and dancing before challenging one another to the Frankfurter game and other competitions to win valuable prizes.
It was a joyful event for all and a chance to get a taste of Germany in a Lebanese atmosphere. (photos attached)

Thu17Jul2014The Lebanese German University – LGU held its third commencement ceremony, class of 2014, under the patronage and presence of his Beatitude Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi at Eddé Sands in Jbeil on July 17, 2014. Gathered for the occasion were 100 students graduating from the faculties of Business Administration, Public Health, and Arts and Education.
The ceremony was held in sumptuous surroundings in the presence of Mr. Christian Clages, the Ambassador of Germany in Lebanon, as well as a host of political, military, religious, economic and industrial figures in addition to the deans of the various faculties, heads of departments, the administrative staff, and the students’ parents. Tue10Jun2014نظّمت الجامعة اللبنانية الألمانية – LGU بالتعاون مع اتحاد المستشفيات العربية مؤتمرا” بعنوان ” التغطية الصحية للجميع ” في حرمها في ساحل علما في 10حزيران وأدار المؤتمر الاعلامي وليد عبود بحضور وزير العمل الأستاذ سجعان قزي و ممثلا” عن وزير الصحة وائل بو فاعور٬ الدكتور بهيج عربيد٬ ورئيس اللّجنة البرلمانية للصّحة النائب عاطف مجدلاني٬ و رئيس اتحاد المستشفيات العربية الدكتور توفيق خوجه. وحضر المؤتمر عدد كبير من المعنيين بالشأن الصّحي كأطباء و قدراء مستشفيات و طلاب كليّات الصّحة العامة في جامعات عدّة
وبعد كلمة ترحيب ألقاها رئيس الجامعة الدكتور فوزي عضيمي٬ شدّد السيّد خوجه على أهميّة المحافظة على الصحة الجسديّة و المعنويّة والاجتماعيّة لكل أفراد المجتمع. فتكون بذلك التغطية الصحيّة شريك فاعل لجميع القطاعات التي تسعى للعمل على انجاز خطّة فعّالة تؤمّن التّغطية الصحيّة للجميع
و شدّد النائب عاطف مجدلاني على أهميّة العمل على انشاء تغطية صحيّة للجميع من شأنها ازالة الفروقات الاجتماعيّة. وأوضح أن البطاقة الصحيّة تزيل العائق المالي أمام المريض وتسمح له بالاستفادة من الخدمات الصحيّة بنسبة 100% في المستشفيات العامّة و 90% في المستشفيات الخاصّة. وأشار الى أن نسبة المواطنين المحرومين من التغطية الصحيّة في لبنان تناهز ال47%٬ ويمكن تمويل هذا المشروع من الموازنة العامّة للدولة و مساهمة المشتركين. وبذلك يستطيع المتقاعدون الاستفادة من هذة التغطية لقاء بدل شهري قيمته 60000 ل.ل. كما شدّد على أن يخضع المشروع لمراقبة ديوان المحاسبة من أجل العمل بشفافية تامّة
في دوره٬ ذكّر الدكتور بهيج عرييه بالفوضى التي تطفى على قطاع الصّحة في لبنان بسبب غياب التنسيق بين الدولة والمستشفيات من ناحية٬ وانعدام المراقبة المالية من ناحية أخرى. وشدّد على أهميّة البطاقة الصحيّة وضرورة وصل مراكز الصّحة في مختلف المناطق اللّبنانية بالمستشفيات لكي يتسنّى لها منح المريض خدمات صحيّة عالية الجودة
أمّا الوزير سجعان قزي فقد أشار الى أن المساواة الاجتماعيّة تقوم على أسس المساواة الانسانية التي تعطي كل انسان الحق في التغطية الصحيّة. أمّا المساواة الوطنية فتفرض على كل دولة تأمين تلك التغطية لكل أبناء المجتمع
وذكّر بالجهود التي يقوم بها العاملون في وزارتيّ الصحّة العامة والعمل لكي يؤمنّوا خدمات جيّدة لكل المواطنين
اختتم الحفل بتقديم درع تقدير لكل من الخطباء وشرب نخب المناسبة

Wed04Jun2014The Recreational Department at LGU organized the “Strongest Team” competition on Wednesday 4 June in its green area. Four teams made up each of 5 girls and 5 boys competed against in fun sports games and activities for two hours.
The PHYSIO I team won the competition and was delivered a cup and medals for the effort of all its members.

Fri30May2014In line with its promotion of young talents and in order to encourage its students to reveal their artistic skills, LGU organized LGU’s Got Talent on May 30 at 8:00 p.m.
The lively event was held at LGU campus in Sahel Alma and featured various talents for the occasion. It attracted not only participants to the contest but also a large number of students who were present to cheer their peers as well as various guests and a jury composed of Mrs. Alice Edde, Mrs. Graziella Seif, Mr. Michel Hourani Mr. Elie Massad, Mr. Georges Farah, and Mr. Chadi Azoury.
Fifteen groups of students of various faculties and majors competed in different fields, such as dancing, singing, acting, painting, music playing, and poetry reading. Patrick Eid and Mary Nachaf were awarded first prize for their outstanding singing performance; Vincent Matta second prize for his remarkable dancing steps; while Roula Moubarak ranked third for her unusual voice.
During the event, many entertaining activities were held. Mr. Elie Massad delivered a standup comedy piece; Mr. Chadi Azoury accompanied by Mr. Pierre Sarkis played music live at intermission; Mr. Georges Farah sang his own medley; and famous soprano singer Graziella Seif ended the event with her angelic voice. Sat24May2014LGU organized a seminar entitled « Walking Through and Towards Quality in Physiotherapy » on Saturday 24 May, 2014. The seminar hosted several professionals in the field who met to discuss how to regulate and standardize the profession.
At the start of the seminar, Dr. Paul Makhlouf, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, called attention to the growing number of physical therapists in Lebanon due to public awareness of the need for such therapy to deal with old age ailments and various cases requiring specific physical therapy handling. As a result, there is an urgent need for criteria to standardize and regulate the profession.
Mr. Charbel Habib, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy at LGU, spoke about the evolution of education in the field of physical therapy that used to be confined to graduating technicians before it became part of a higher education program recommended by the WCPT, that is a university diploma including a master degree and a professional PhD.
Following that, Mr. Hassan Karaki, Director of the Research Center for Quality in Physical Therapy, spoke about how quality evolved from its being imposed by suppliers of goods and services to its being defined by the consumers of these goods and the users of these services. He also brought up the socio-professional situation of therapists in Lebanon before stressing that the main objective of the Research Center is to find out what therapists’ needs are in terms of training and self-development and to define a profile for the therapist and the needed qualifications he should possess, what pathologies are being treated and medical prescriptions are proposed along with problems relating to social security, retirement, and the overall situation of the profession in rural areas in Lebanon.
In turn, Mr. Joseph Yammine, expert in quality and standardization systems, focused on the preventive and corrective dispositions that should meet the needs of clients. He also described the content of the documentation pyramid that includes the quality manual, the specific procedures for every activity, and the working documents that keep track of what steps have been taken during the therapeutic process. He also defined some terms relating to quality, such as norms, certifications, audits, processes, control, conformity and non-conformity, and corrective and preventive actions.
Following that, Mrs. Rachelle Rassi Daou, physical therapist and expert in health management, stressed the need to meet the patient’s satisfaction, to boost the image of the profession as well as the need to train professionals on the latest innovations in the field so that they are constantly aware of optimal hygiene practices, the risks involved, and how to apply therapies that are effective and cost efficient.
Mrs. Claude Maroun, Director of the Physical Therapy Center at AUBMC, delivered a SWOT analysis of the profession identifying its strengths as being university qualifications and the code of ethics and its weaknesses as lack of regulations imposed by the government and data provided for the purpose as well as lack of funds to finance research in the field ; while the opportunities lie in the willingness of universities to launch research programs ; and the threats in the tendency the profession has to follow an esthetic rather than a therapeutic trend.
Mrs. Maroun also made various recommendations aimed at boosting the profession through carrying out continuous training for the therapists and working towards effective standardization of the profession. She also spoke about how to set objectives for the case in hand and move towards fulfilling these objectives in the best interest of the patient and how to measure the efficiency of the whole process.
Mrs. Lea Tabet, physical therapist and coordinator of the Physical Therapy Department at LGU, spoke about the standards required for accreditation. She also identified the patient’s rights and needs and the delivery of quality therapy by qualified professionals who are respectful not only of the patient’s needs but also of the security of the environment. She also confirmed that in order to deliver quality therapy to patients, the whole process must be measured against reliable performance indicators.
At the end of the seminar, discussions followed on how to implement the criteria regarding the standardization of the profession in a most efficient manner. (photos attached)

Through a slide show, they provided information about eggs and their nutritional value. They also passed out leaflets explaining the calorific content of various regular and light Easter delights. Fri04Apr2014Les étudiants du département de physiothérapie à la Lebanese German University –LGU a organisé une conférence intitulée « Troubles musculo-squelettiques professionnels: Ergonomie et prévention chez les bureaucrates » et le vendredi 4 avril 2014 à l’Auditorium ULE, Sahel Alma.
Une position assise prolongée devant un écran d’ordinateur est responsable de troubles musculo-squelettiques ou TMS qui sont des pathologies dues à des blessures des tissus mous notamment des tendons, ligaments, vaisseaux sanguins et nerfs causés par un travail répétitif.
Les conséquences de ces troubles sont des douleurs aigues et un inconfort durant le travail ce qui va mener à un absentéisme répétitif, une perte de productivité, une perte de temps et d’argent pour des visites médicales et des traitements médicamenteux ainsi qu’une perte de la qualité de vie de la personne.
« Mieux vaut prévenir que guérir » : dans ce but les étudiants Alaa SALEH, Patricia STEPHAN, Carine HENNAOUI, Samia FAKHRY, Lea NASSAR, Antoinette SAFI, Nando HARB, Elie KARABACHE, Lucien NAKHOUL, ont pris à cœur l’initiative de développer une formation inspirée du cours d’ergonomie afin d’aider les bureaucrates à déterminer si leur poste d’ordinateur est adapté à leurs besoins en leur fournissant à l’aide d’une présentation qu’ils ont développé eux même sous la direction de l’enseignante du cours, les outils de base pour aménager et entretenir un espace de travail de manière à favoriser la santé et la bonne posture. A la fin de la conférence, un guide vidéo va cependant être distribué à tous les spectateurs. (photos attached)

Sat01Feb2014The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Public Health at LGU took part in an interuniversity competition entitled “Innovation in Food Control – IFC2014″ organized by the Ministry of Economy and Trade during February 2014. LGU competed with 20 Lebanese universities and won first prize on its project.
The purpose of the competition was to get the academic sector involved in the development of projects carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Trade in order to devise new tools that would enhance consumer protection and boost consumers’ confidence in the government. (read more)

Biomedical Technologies Department Achievement
Another achievement for LGU’s Biomedical Technologies Department. Congratulations to Joseph KHATTAR and Carla ZEINE for having their paper “Implementation of a Monitoring System that Notifies Healthcare Providers of a Sudden Medical Emergency Occurring to a Driver” accepted in a book entitled “Vital Signs: an Overview”. The book is edited by Dr. Roy ABI ZEID DAOU, Head of the Biomedical Technologies Department at LGU, and Professor Josef BOERCSOK, Chairperson of the Computer Architecture and System Programming Department at Kassel University. The book is published by Nova Science Publishers.
